Here We Go Again!

Hey Everybody!! Thanks again for going on this crazy ride that we've been on for some time now, but its not over! As the Olympic fever has died down, I've had time to sit down and reflect on the past season and look forward to the future. Making it to Beijing taught me that hard work, dedication, and commitment to my career and God truly turns dreams into realities. It wasn't always an easy road, but nobody said it would be. So now that the fall training season has began, I've set my sights on defending my Indoor National title and going to the World Championships in Berlin, Germany. My first indoor meet will be in January, but I'm not sure of where or when because I'm still putting together my schedule. I'll be sure to update you all of where all of my competitions will be held and the results. Again, thank you all so much for all the love and support. This season is sure to be another exciting one so check back often for new updates!

Love and Blessings,

Amber

Throws Information

Throwing formats
In Olympic throwing events -- men's and women's shot put, discus, hammer and javelin -- the competition begins with a qualifying round in which the entire field is divided into two or more groups. In this round, competitors take turns attempting to reach a pre-set distance that automatically advances them to the final. If fewer than 12 athletes meet the distance required from direct qualification, the 12 competitors with the best throws, plus any athletes tying for 12th, advance to the final. In the final round, competitors take turns until each has attempted three throws. At this point, the top eight-ranked competitors (plus ties) receive three more throws. The best throw of the six is counted and the athlete with the longest throw is declared the winner. In case of a tie, the second-best throw is consulted.
